Highlights of Smeg

Smeg Dolce & Gabbana Small Appliances

On display at this year’s Auckland Home Show: the enviable Dolce & Gabbana and Smeg Sicily is my Love range featuring a gorgeous kettle, toaster, and citrus juicer! These two Italian institutions have joined forces to create a range of elegant and beautiful small appliances; a colourful collaboration adorned with Dolce & Gabbana’s signature style alongside Smeg’s supreme functionality.

Hand painted with gold lemons, citrus fruits, prickly pears and bright red cherries, these appliances also boast delicate floral motifs inspired by the coasts and landscapes of Southern Italy and images of fascinating ruins of the Greek temple of Castor and Pollux in the Valley of Temples.

All symbols of an aesthetic inextricably associated with Sicily, home to the souls of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, and more generally with Italy and its cuisine of which Smeg has always been an interpreter of excellence.

 Smeg Mondrian-inspired Fab28 Fridge

Experience one if the most recognizable art pieces from the De Stijl movement in an entirely new way! We’ve taken Piet Mondrian’s feat of primary colours and rigid geometric lines and combined it with the style and sophistication of the Smeg Fab28 refrigerator!

Re-emerging countless times throughout history, from Lola Prusac’s Mondrian-inspired designer bags in the 1930’s, to Yves Saint Laurent’s famous Mondrian dresses of the 1960’s – Smeg has now brought this lasting aesthetic into both the 21st century and the 2017 Auckland Home Show.

Dolce Stil Novo

In a design that lets opposites meet – darkness becomes light, functionality merges into the aesthetic – Smeg’s Dolce Stil Novo range presents design and style innovations become the focal point of their environment.

Redefining elegance, the Dolce Stil Novo collection gives this term a new interpretation. Minimalism oozes modernity and class, and the removal of design avoids exhibited formalisms and excesses to bring out a concept of refinement and grace.

As always, in the Smeg tradition of design, the new aesthetic concept of Dolce Stil Novo integrates advanced technological solutions and simplicity of use of the various home appliances.
